Music: Wild Dogs by Lil Wayne

Lil Wayne’s Wild Dogs closes out Funeral, the 2020 album that blends raw lyricism with a darker, more introspective sound. As the twelfth track on the project, it offers a reflective yet commanding finish, showcasing Wayne’s signature flow against a gritty instrumental. The song’s atmosphere carries the weight of the album’s title, with Wayne’s delivery shifting between urgency and quiet resolve.

Wild Dogs stands out for its unfiltered energy, where Wayne’s voice cuts through the production with a mix of defiance and melancholy. The track’s genre leans into hip-hop’s more atmospheric and storytelling side, avoiding the polished pop sensibilities of his earlier work. Its placement on Funeral suggests a deliberate choice—this isn’t just another anthem, but a moment of raw honesty wrapped in Wayne’s signature swagger.

For fans of Wayne’s evolution over the past decade, Wild Dogs serves as a reminder of his ability to balance intensity with vulnerability. The track’s minimalist approach lets his words carry the narrative, making it a standout piece in an album that balances aggression with introspection. Whether you’re revisiting Funeral or discovering it for the first time, this final cut leaves a lasting impression.
