Music: Cherry Blossom by Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey’s Cherry Blossom closes out her 2021 album Blue Banisters as a dreamy, melancholic closer that lingers like a fading sunset. Though the track sits at number 14 on the album, its soft, atmospheric production and Del Rey’s signature poetic delivery make it a standout. The song blends wistful lyrics with delicate instrumentation, offering a reflective moment that feels both intimate and expansive.

Musically, Cherry Blossom leans into the album’s signature blend of indie-folk and barroom balladry, though with a gentler touch. Del Rey’s voice carries a quiet sorrow, weaving through gentle piano and subtle guitar work that evoke a sense of nostalgia. It’s the kind of track that feels like a late-night confession, perfect for those who appreciate her ability to turn personal ache into something almost serene.

Blue Banisters is a project that balances raw emotion with polished production, and Cherry Blossom is no exception. While it may not draw immediate attention, its understated beauty makes it a rewarding listen for fans of Del Rey’s ability to craft moments of quiet introspection. The song’s simplicity is its strength, leaving room for listeners to project their own memories and emotions onto its gentle melody.
